Google Duo

So Google Announced today the release of Google Duo. It looks eerily similar to Apple’s Facetime. Looking into this, I found Google has been on a roll recently and released many programs that seem to be similar in function to my existing Apple products? So to help other clueless people here’s a simple breakdown of their new products (or new to me).

The only thing I don’t understand is with Skype, Facebook messenger, Facetime, and a million other similar services, why? But anyhow..

Google Allo = iMessage = which is similar to Hangouts (probably going to be phased out)
Google Duo = Facetime = which is similar to Hangouts (probably going to be phased out)
Google Voice = just call

This might be a way to get new users onto their services as Hangouts aren’t drawing as much crowd or because it presents itself for presenting and colloboration rather than for everyday communication..

Here’s a video from Google
